Task and Responsibilities

  • Actively build up author/editor/reviewer/partner network among the scientific community in Greater China
  • Keep abreast of the latest development in earth sciences and related areas worldwide, focus on emerging or hot topics as well as interdisciplinary research
  • Plan, acquire and manage Editorial Projects with Chinese authors/editors/partners. Editorial Projects include journals, books, proceedings and electronic products in earth sciences and related areas

Job Requirements

Task and Responsibilities

Editorial Assistant assists the editors in the administration of all aspects of publishing related operations, including but not limited to planning, acquiring, managing, producing, marketing book and journal projects. The responsibilities are:

•  To assist the editors to manage the publishing projects. Publishing projects include books, journals and electronic publications.

•  To assist the editors to communicate with book/journal partners, authors, and reviewers.

•  To work with other in-house teams to coordinate the editorial, production and promotional activities.

Position: Open Access Account Manager, Greater ChinaLocation: Beijing, China

Reporting Line: Report to Direct of Open Research Group, Greater China;Dotted line to Head of Institutional Engagement

Task and Responsibilities:

·  In support of the Director, act as the primary contact for institutions and funders on behalf of ORG, with particular focus on their OR needs

·   Build up contacts in all relevant departments within institutions – i.e. library, research office, etc.

·   Through direct contact and outreach with institutions, log scholarly communications status, with a particular focus on OR (open research) – i.e. OA policy, mandate, funding info in Greater China.

·  Ensure the wider business in the region is kept up-to-date with external developments in the market, including funding, policy, and competitor initiatives.

·  Gather OR requirements directly from institutions, and communicate to Product Management and Institutional Operations teams in order to build solutions to meet institutional needs

·   Collate and document institutions’ OR requirements and general contact, in order to be communicated as market intel to China ORG team and wider global Institutional Engagement dept., and relevant teams across Springer Nature

·   Work closely with Institutional Operations team for effective management of our existing institutional and social accounts in Greater China, driving APC revenue from them, as well as the development of new and existing products for institutions.

Production Editor

Position: Production Editor 

Location: Beijing

Reporting Line: Reporting to Senior Production Editor, London office

Task and Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of journals from acceptance into production through to online publication
  • Performing safety checks on manuscripts prior to publication to ensure they conform to Journal style guides and house policy
  • Work closely with and manage vendor performance to ensure articles are published within agreed target-times and meet quality standards
  • Act as an escalation point for vendors to answer queries and resolve issues
  • Commit to and prepare for weekly 1-2-1 catch ups with line manager via phone/Skype for support, queries and portfolio/workload update
